Local Cardiff coverage — city centre to the suburbs

Cardiff is small enough to walk across in an afternoon and large enough to have very distinct districts, each with its own rhythm. We cover every postcode inside the CF10-CF24 core and out into the surrounding suburbs and satellite towns. Central pickups from Queen Street, the Hayes, and St Mary Street are usually with you inside a few minutes off-peak; expect slightly longer around the Cardiff Bay barrage on summer weekends, and considerably longer during major stadium events when Westgate Street closes to traffic.

Beyond the immediate centre, we regularly serve Cathays and the university halls of residence, the residential streets of Roath and Penylan, family suburbs like Cyncoed, Rhiwbina and Whitchurch, and the western communities of Canton, Pontcanna, Llandaff and Radyr. Further out we cover Llanishen, Thornhill, Rumney, Llanrumney, St Mellons, Culverhouse Cross, Ely, Fairwater, Grangetown and Butetown. Cross-city journeys — say Rhiwbina to Cardiff Bay, or Radyr to the University Hospital of Wales at the Heath — are quoted as a fixed fare rather than a meter run, so you are not exposed to traffic on the A470 or Eastern Avenue.

Cardiff Airport (CWL) — the A48 run

Cardiff Airport at Rhoose is roughly 12 miles south-west of the city centre. In sensible traffic the trip takes around 30 minutes via the A48 and A4226, dropping down through the Vale of Glamorgan. Add 15-20 minutes at peak times or when there is queueing back from the Culverhouse Cross roundabout.

For arrivals, our drivers meet passengers inside the terminal at the arrivals hall rather than at the kerbside pickup zone, holding a name board. Flight arrival times are tracked live, so a delayed inbound from Faro or Malaga does not cost you anything in wait time. For departures we recommend a pickup that lands you at the terminal at least 2 hours before short-haul and 3 hours before long-haul, with buffer built in for the A48 rather than assuming a clear run. Estates and MPVs are available if you are travelling with a family and a full complement of holiday luggage.

Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street

The rail interchange at Cardiff Central handles Great Western services from London Paddington, CrossCountry trains through to the Midlands and the north, and Transport for Wales services out to the Valleys, west Wales and the border. When your train arrives at Central, the driver waits with your name board on the concourse under the departure boards — a short walk from any platform. If you would rather be collected at the taxi rank on Central Square, we will do that too, but the concourse pickup avoids the queue.

Queen Street station is our second most-frequent city rail pickup, particularly for passengers coming in from the Valleys lines and Cardiff Bay via the connector. Pickups here are simpler — a short kerbside stop on Station Terrace or a designated bay is usually straightforward outside peak times.

Principality Stadium and match days

Autumn rugby internationals, the Six Nations, and major concerts turn the city centre into a controlled traffic zone. Westgate Street closes entirely, Castle Street runs one-way on the bus corridor, and the pedestrian cordon extends across most of the city core. We coordinate every match-day and event pickup around published road closures: your driver will confirm a meeting point in advance, typically near Sophia Gardens, the top of Park Place, or the Cardiff Castle end of North Road, depending on the stadium end you are exiting from. Pre-booking for match days is strongly recommended over on-demand, since demand into the small hours easily outstrips supply.

Cardiff City Stadium (Leckwith)

For Cardiff City FC home fixtures at the Cardiff City Stadium on Leckwith Road, we schedule pickups either at the pre-match window or from the retail park side after the final whistle to avoid the worst of the queueing on Sloper Road and Leckwith Road. Journeys back to the city centre are quick outside of the immediate post-match crush.

Cardiff Bay

Cardiff Bay is a straight run down Lloyd George Avenue or Bute Street from the centre — about ten minutes off-peak. We cover the Wales Millennium Centre, Mermaid Quay, the Norwegian Church, the Senedd, and the residential developments around Roath Basin and Atlantic Wharf. Bay pickups on summer evenings and event weekends benefit from pre-booking, as the area gets very busy after the last showings at the WMC.

The Heath — University Hospital of Wales

The University Hospital of Wales at the Heath is one of the largest hospitals in the UK, and taxi journeys there are frequent — patient transport, visitor pickups, outpatient appointments, and the daily commute of NHS Wales staff. Pickups are from the main entrance, A&E, or one of the outpatient block doors depending on your department. We recognise NHS shift patterns and can pre-schedule regular staff rides.

Cross-city routes — M4 corridor

Cardiff is a natural start point for wider journeys along the M4. Bristol is around 45 minutes via the Prince of Wales Bridge, with fixed fares covering the toll-free crossing (tolls were removed in 2018). Bristol Airport transfers via the M4 and A370 typically take 60-70 minutes. Newport is a short 20-minute run to the east. Swansea sits an hour or so west along the M4, useful for airport connections at Cardiff or Bristol from further into south-west Wales, and for weekend trips down to the Gower.

Longer runs — Birmingham, Manchester, Heathrow, Gatwick — are all available as fixed-fare pre-bookings with an executive saloon or estate. We do the trip regularly for corporate travellers who prefer a door-to-door alternative to a change at Reading.

Fleet options

The Cardiff fleet ranges from standard saloons (typically Skoda Octavias, Toyota Prius hybrids and equivalent) through estates and MPVs for families or airport groups, up to 8-seaters for larger parties. Executive vehicles — E-Class, 5-Series and equivalent — are available for corporate bookings and airport transfers where a smarter presentation matters. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are part of the fleet and available on advance booking.
