Fixed-fare quotes — London to Stansted Airport.

  • Fixed fare — no surge
  • Licensed, DBS-checked drivers
  • Flight tracking included

A Stansted Airport taxi with CabsOn takes the guesswork out of getting to London's third-busiest airport. Whether you're flying Ryanair to Alicante at 6am, meeting a Jet2 arrival from Antalya, or connecting through STN for an easyJet city break, we handle the M11 run, the drop-off charge and the terminal logistics so you can focus on your trip. Every booking is a fixed fare quoted upfront — the number you see is the number you pay, even if traffic on the M25 or A12 slows the journey down.

Because Stansted sits about 40 miles north-east of central London with a single terminal, the transfer looks simple on paper but it rewards a driver who knows the airport's quirks: which lanes to take at the drop-off ramp, where meet-and-greet actually happens inside the short-stay car park, and how to time a pickup around a delayed Ryanair inbound. That's what we do every day.

  • Fixed fares quoted upfront — no surge pricing, no drop-off charge added at the end
  • Free meet-and-greet inside the short-stay car park, opposite the terminal
  • Live flight tracking — we adjust to early or delayed arrivals automatically
  • 60 minutes free waiting after landing, then a modest per-hour rate
  • 24/7 dispatch, including 3am and 4am Ryanair departures
  • Saloon, estate, MPV, executive and 8-seater vehicles from one booking flow
  • Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, cash or corporate account
  • UK-licensed drivers, fully insured private hire vehicles

Our Stansted Airport taxi service

London Stansted (STN) is a single-terminal airport in Uttlesford, Essex, roughly 40 miles north-east of central London via the M11. Off-peak, a taxi run from Zone 1 typically takes around an hour; add 20–40 minutes during the morning rush or when there's an incident on the M25 near junction 27. Because Stansted has just one terminal, the transfer is mercifully straightforward compared with Heathrow or Gatwick — but the airport's short-stay charging structure and the walk from the car park to check-in are things a good driver plans around.

We run Stansted transfers around the clock, seven days a week. Most bookings are pre-arranged through the app or website with a fixed fare, but you can also call our 24-hour dispatch line. Drivers arrive early as standard, we hold your fare even if we sit in traffic, and the price you're quoted includes the airport drop-off levy — so there's nothing extra to hand over at the barrier.

Fleet options for your Stansted transfer

Ryanair and Jet2 passengers travel light more often than not, so the saloon is our most popular Stansted booking. That said, a family off on a fortnight in Faro with a pushchair and two suitcases will be more comfortable in an estate or MPV, and business travellers heading to a meeting straight off an Emirates arrival often prefer the executive tier. Our standard fleet options are:

  • Saloon — up to 4 passengers with 2 medium cases and 2 cabin bags. Toyota Prius, Skoda Octavia or similar. Our lowest-priced Stansted option.
  • Estate — 4 passengers with more boot space, ideal for skis, golf clubs, or a family with several large cases.
  • MPV / 6-seater — up to 6 passengers, well-suited to airport transfers because the boot handles 6 medium cases comfortably.
  • 8-seater — for groups, stag/hen trips or an extended family flying together on the same booking.
  • Executive — Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series or equivalent, with a suited driver, complimentary water and phone chargers. Popular for corporate accounts and inbound clients.
  • Wheelchair-accessible (WAV) — pre-booked only; please give at least 12 hours' notice so we can dispatch the right vehicle.

Meet-and-greet at Stansted's short-stay car park

Because Stansted's forecourt is drop-off only and enforced by ANPR, meet-and-greet is the sensible option on arrival. When your flight lands, your driver parks in the short-stay car park, which sits directly opposite the terminal (a covered walkway connects the two), and meets you in the arrivals hall holding a name board. If you'd rather keep it lean, we also offer a "kerbside collect" option — you clear customs, message your driver, and they'll swing round to pick you up from the designated pickup zone. Both are included in the fixed fare; short-stay parking for meet-and-greet is on us for the first 30 minutes of waiting.

For departures, we recommend the airport's own drop-off zone. Stansted charges a flat drop-off fee (roughly £7 for a short stay at the express set-down, refunded if you're in and out inside 15 minutes at the mid-stay drop-off). Whichever we use, that charge is already bundled into your quote — you won't be asked for it at the barrier.

Typical journey times to Stansted

Traffic on the M11 and M25 makes a real difference, so treat these as a guide rather than a promise. We'd always recommend leaving a comfortable buffer for a Ryanair or easyJet departure, since those airlines close bag drop earlier than most.

  • Central London (Zone 1) — approximately 1 hour off-peak via A12/M11, 75–100 min in rush hour
  • East London (Stratford, Docklands) — approximately 45–70 min
  • North London (Islington, Camden) — approximately 55–80 min
  • West London (Paddington, Kensington) — approximately 75–110 min
  • South London (Clapham, Wimbledon) — approximately 90–120 min
  • Cambridge — approximately 35–50 min via M11
  • Bishop's Stortford — approximately 10–15 min (local runs)
  • Chelmsford — approximately 30–45 min
  • Colchester — approximately 55–75 min
  • Milton Keynes — approximately 75–100 min

Pricing — what a Stansted taxi actually costs

We quote a fixed fare at the point of booking based on postcode-to-postcode distance, vehicle class, and time of day. Prices vary with fuel, demand and route, so we'd rather show you a live quote than commit to a headline number here — but as a rough guide, saloon fares from central London to Stansted typically sit in the £75–£95 range off-peak, with executive vehicles a little higher. Local runs from Bishop's Stortford, Harlow or Cambridge are usually much less.

What's included in every quote:

  • The airport drop-off charge
  • All congestion and clean-air-zone charges on the route (ULEZ, Dartford Crossing where applicable)
  • Free 60-minute waiting time on airport arrivals from touchdown
  • Free 15-minute waiting on standard pickups
  • Meet-and-greet where requested

There's no surge pricing at 4am, no premium on bank holidays, no surprise "night rate" — the quote is the fare.

How to book your Stansted taxi

Three ways, all live 24/7:

  • Online — enter your pickup postcode and Stansted (STN), pick a vehicle, add the flight number so we can track it, pay by card. Confirmation and driver details land in your inbox and via SMS.
  • CabsOn app — same instant quote, plus real-time driver tracking on the day of travel and one-tap contact with your driver.
  • Phone — for corporate accounts, group bookings, wheelchair-accessible vehicles or any journey with unusual requirements, our dispatch team is available around the clock.

For airport transfers we recommend booking at least 3 hours ahead where you can. For 4am and 5am Ryanair departures, booking the night before is safer — we build in extra buffer for those slots because there's less scope to recover if something slips.

Luggage, families and accessibility

Luggage limits are simple: use the same rule of thumb as your airline. A saloon comfortably holds 2 large cases and 2 cabin bags; an estate or MPV handles up to 5 large cases; the 8-seater will take 6 large cases plus hand luggage. Ski bags, golf clubs, cellos and larger items are fine but let us know at booking so we can dispatch the right vehicle rather than turn up in a Prius with a golf-club-sized problem.

Child seats are available on request at no extra charge — please tell us at booking time whether you need a baby seat (0–12 months), toddler seat (9 months–4 years) or booster (4–12 years), and for how many children. Because we hold a limited stock, adding a child seat to a booking a few hours before pickup isn't always possible, so please plan ahead where you can.

Wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAVs) are available with 12+ hours' notice on any Stansted route. Please book by phone rather than through the app so we can confirm the specific ramp/lift configuration you need. Our WAV drivers are trained in safe wheelchair securing and passenger transfer.

Payment and receipts

You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or Amex at the point of booking, or via Apple Pay and Google Pay in the app. Cash is accepted in-car if you prefer. Corporate accounts are billed monthly against a purchase order with a VAT-compliant statement — useful for travel managers who want to consolidate airport transfers across a team. Every booking generates an emailed VAT receipt automatically; if you need a duplicate or a bespoke expense format, our accounts team can send one within a working day.

Cancellation and changes

Life happens — flights get rescheduled, meetings run over, and Ryanair occasionally moves a slot by two hours the night before. Cancel or amend your Stansted transfer free of charge up to 2 hours before pickup for standard vehicles, and up to 4 hours before for executive and 8-seater bookings. Inside those windows, a partial charge may apply. If your flight is cancelled entirely, get in touch — we'll almost always waive the fee and simply reschedule.

Meet-and-greet on the day

Roughly 30 minutes before your driver is due, you'll receive an SMS with their name, phone number, vehicle make, model and registration. On arrival at Stansted, once you've cleared the immigration hall and picked up bags, walk out into arrivals and look for the name board — that's your driver. If you can't spot each other, call the number in your booking confirmation or use the in-app chat. We don't hide behind a call centre: the number you're given goes to a real person who can help.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How much does a taxi from London to Stansted Airport cost?

Fares depend on your pickup postcode and vehicle class, but as a guide, saloon transfers from central London to Stansted typically sit in the £75 to £95 range off-peak. The Stansted drop-off charge is bundled into every quote, and we don't apply surge pricing, so the fare you're quoted is the fare you pay.

Do you meet me inside the Stansted terminal?

Yes. Your driver parks in the short-stay car park directly opposite the terminal and meets you in the arrivals hall holding a name board. If you'd rather skip meet-and-greet, we can pick you up kerbside from the designated pickup zone once you message the driver.

How long does the drive from central London to Stansted take?

Around an hour off-peak via the A12 and M11. In morning or evening rush hour, or when there's an incident on the M25, allow 75 to 100 minutes. From east London and Stratford, the trip is closer to 45 to 70 minutes. We always recommend leaving a comfortable buffer for early morning Ryanair departures.

Can I book a Stansted taxi for a 4am Ryanair flight?

Yes — our dispatch runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and early morning Stansted departures are one of our busiest slots. We recommend booking the night before at the latest for anything between 3am and 6am, so we can build in extra buffer against unexpected delays.

Will my driver wait if my Stansted arrival is delayed?

Yes. We track your flight live from the airline's data, so if you land early or late your driver adjusts automatically. You get 60 minutes of free waiting from touchdown, which comfortably covers most immigration and baggage delays. Beyond that a modest per-hour rate applies.

Is the Stansted drop-off charge included in the fare?

Yes. Stansted's forecourt drop-off levy is already bundled into the fixed fare we quote at booking. You won't be asked to pay anything extra at the barrier. Congestion charges, ULEZ and the Dartford Crossing (if the route uses it) are also included.

How do I book a wheelchair-accessible taxi to Stansted?

Please book by phone rather than through the app, with at least 12 hours' notice, so we can dispatch a wheelchair-accessible vehicle with the correct ramp or lift configuration. Our WAV drivers are trained in safe wheelchair securing and passenger transfer, and there's no extra charge for the accessible service.

Can eight of us travel together in one Stansted taxi?

Yes. Our 8-seater vehicles carry up to eight passengers with luggage — comfortable for groups heading out on a stag, hen or family holiday. Because 8-seaters are dispatched from a smaller pool, we recommend booking at least 24 hours ahead for peak weekend slots.
