Airport Transfer

Manchester Airport Taxi: Pre-Booked Transfers to T2 and T3

Fixed-fare transfers to and from Manchester Airport with meet-and-greet at every terminal, live flight tracking and 24/7 dispatch across the North West.

Fixed-fare quotes — Manchester to Manchester Airport.

  • Fixed fare — no surge
  • Licensed, DBS-checked drivers
  • Flight tracking included

Manchester Airport is the busiest UK airport outside London, handling long-haul departures from its two operational terminals roughly ten miles south of the city centre. A pre-booked taxi is the most predictable way to reach it — no surge pricing when a bank holiday hits, no scramble for a rideshare after a red-eye, and a driver who knows whether to head for the T2 forecourt or the T3 drop-off loop without asking.

CabsOn runs fixed-fare Manchester Airport taxis for pickups across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire and the wider North West. Every airport booking is priced upfront the moment you enter your postcode and terminal, tracked against your flight number if you're arriving, and dispatched to a licensed private-hire driver who meets you inside the terminal — not in a car park half a mile away.

  • Fixed fares confirmed at booking — no meter, no surge, no bank-holiday premium
  • Meet-and-greet at T2 and T3 arrivals — driver waits airside-adjacent with a name sign
  • 60 minutes of free waiting on arrivals from the moment your flight lands
  • Live flight tracking — pickup slides automatically if your inbound is delayed
  • Saloon, estate, MPV, 8-seater and executive vehicles for any group size or luggage load
  • 24/7 booking via app, website or phone — cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay or corporate account

Our Manchester Airport taxi service

Manchester Airport (MAN) is the third-busiest airport in the UK, sitting between Wythenshawe and Styal on the southern edge of the city. Because it draws passengers from across the North of England — Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Preston, the Lakes — a taxi transfer is often the only sensible option: rail links to some of those catchments involve two changes, and short-stay parking rates make driving-and-parking pointless for a week-long trip.

A CabsOn Manchester Airport taxi is booked ahead, priced at a fixed fare, and matched to your flight. If you're departing, the driver arrives at your pickup with enough buffer to reach the terminal at the drop-off time you specified. If you're arriving, we track your inbound automatically — you don't need to update us if you're delayed, diverted to a nearby stand or held on the runway. The clock on our 60-minute free waiting window starts when your wheels touch down, not when you booked.

Fleet options for Manchester Airport transfers

Airport runs put more demand on a vehicle than a normal town job — luggage bulk, longer distances, occasional early-hours starts — so it matters which car turns up. Our fleet covers:

  • Saloon — up to 4 passengers, 2 large cases plus hand luggage. Ford Mondeo or VW Passat. The default choice for solo travellers and couples.
  • Estate — same 4 passengers but with genuine boot space for 3-4 large cases. Useful for families flying with hold bags and pushchairs.
  • MPV (6-seater) — up to 6 passengers with modest luggage, or 4 with a full family holiday load. Ford Galaxy or VW Sharan.
  • 8-seater — up to 8 passengers, ideal for hen and stag groups heading to a long-haul flight, or extended families. Volkswagen Transporter.
  • Executive — Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series or equivalent. Leather interior, bottled water, quiet driver, suit-and-tie standard. Popular for corporate accounts and premium leisure travellers.

Child seats — infant carrier, forward-facing toddler seat, or booster — can be added to any vehicle. Request them when booking; we do not carry them by default because most bookings don't need them.

Terminal-by-terminal meet-and-greet

Manchester Airport now operates from two passenger terminals — T2 (post-transformation, handling most airlines including the long-haul network) and T3 (Jet2 hub plus other short-haul and domestic services). Terminal 1 closed to passenger flights in 2024 as part of the airport's £1.3bn Manchester Airport Transformation Programme (MANTP). Our meet-and-greet procedure is the same at each: your driver parks in the designated short-stay area for that terminal, walks into arrivals, and waits at the exit from customs with a name sign showing your booking reference.

Terminal 2

T2 has been substantially expanded as part of the airport's transformation programme and now handles the majority of long-haul flights including Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Cathay and Etihad, alongside many European carriers. It's a modern, taller building with wider walkways. Meet-and-greet is at the arrivals exit; the short-stay car park is directly accessible via a covered link.

Terminal 3

T3 is the smaller of the two operational terminals and handles most Jet2, easyJet and other short-haul departures, along with domestic services. Arrivals exit into a compact hall — our driver will be visible almost immediately as you clear customs. T3 short-stay is next to the terminal building.

Both operational terminals are subject to Manchester Airport's forecourt drop-off charge. This is applied to any vehicle that stops on the terminal frontage and is passed through at cost — it's shown as a separate line on your fare rather than hidden inside the base price, so you always know what you're paying and why.

Typical journey times to Manchester Airport

Off-peak journey times to MAN from common pickup points:

  • Manchester city centre — ~25 minutes (10 miles via the M56)
  • Stockport — ~20 minutes (7 miles via the A34)
  • Altrincham — ~15 minutes (5 miles)
  • Bolton — ~35 minutes (18 miles via the M61/M60)
  • Warrington — ~30 minutes (18 miles via the M56)
  • Liverpool city centre — ~50 minutes (35 miles via the M62/M60)
  • Preston — ~55 minutes (40 miles via the M6/M61)
  • Leeds — ~1 hour 20 (75 miles via the M62)
  • Sheffield — ~1 hour 15 (55 miles via the Snake Pass or M1/M62)

Add 20-40 minutes for weekday morning rush (07:00-09:30) and Friday afternoon (16:00-19:00) — M56 and M60 congestion is the main variable. Our drivers work these routes daily and will suggest a pickup time based on your terminal check-in cut-off, not a generic satnav estimate.

Pricing

Manchester Airport taxi fares are quoted upfront based on your postcode, terminal and pickup time. Approximate ranges for common routes (single journey, saloon, off-peak):

  • Manchester city centre, Stockport, Altrincham, Bolton, Warrington, Liverpool and Preston — get an instant quote online for your exact pickup point. Estate, MPV, 8-seater and executive vehicles are priced a step above the saloon rate. Night pickups between 23:00 and 05:00 attract a modest surcharge, shown on the quote before you book; there is no surge multiplier and no dynamic pricing.

    Booking process

Three ways to book, all confirming a fixed fare before payment:

    1. Website — enter pickup postcode, terminal and time; the quote appears immediately; pay by card or select corporate account.
    2. CabsOn app — iOS and Android. Save home and work as favourites, view live driver location, receive push notifications for driver-on-way and arrival.
    3. Phone — 24/7 dispatch line for callers who prefer to speak to a human, particularly useful for multi-stop trips, group bookings, or accessibility requirements.

For departures, we recommend booking at least 12 hours ahead. For arrivals, book any time before you fly — even a booking made from a stopover lounge will be accepted, provided your flight number is valid.

Luggage, payment, cancellation and accessibility

Luggage capacity. A saloon comfortably takes 2 large cases (up to 30kg each) plus a small piece of hand luggage per passenger. An estate stretches that to 3-4 large cases. If you're travelling with golf clubs, ski bags, pushchairs, bike boxes or oversized musical instruments, book the estate or MPV — it saves the awkward conversation at the kerb. Roof boxes are not available; oversized loads that won't fit inside a vehicle need a dedicated van booking rather than a taxi.

Child seats. Rear-facing infant carriers (0-13kg), forward-facing toddler seats (9-18kg) and high-back boosters (15-36kg) can be added to any booking. Add the request when you book; there is a small handling fee per seat and it isn't fitted by default.

Payment methods. Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), Apple Pay, Google Pay, in-app wallet, or corporate account with monthly invoicing. Cash is accepted for phone-booked trips but must be flagged at booking — we don't dispatch driver-side cash by default. Corporate accounts get consolidated monthly invoices, cost-centre coding, and passenger-name reporting suitable for expense reconciliation.

Cancellation policy. Cancellations more than 4 hours before pickup are free of charge. Between 4 hours and 1 hour, a partial charge may apply. Inside 1 hour or after the driver has been dispatched, the full fare is due. Flight-tracked arrivals cannot be "no-shows" from your side — if your flight is cancelled or diverted, contact dispatch and we'll refund or rebook without penalty.

Wheelchair-accessible vehicles. WAV bookings are available on request. Because they represent a smaller share of the fleet, we ask for 12-24 hours' notice where possible. WAVs are ramp-loaded, fit a standard-size wheelchair with occupant, and carry up to 3 additional passengers. There is no premium on the base fare compared to a like-for-like MPV.

Meet-and-greet and name signs. Every arrival booking includes meet-and-greet as standard — driver on foot, in arrivals, with a printed sign showing your name or booking reference. Signs default to surname; if you'd prefer initials, a company name, or a discreet booking code, add a note when booking. For high-visibility arrivals (large groups, corporate visitors, elderly passengers), we can position the driver at a specific pillar or cafe — mention it in the booking notes.

Multi-stop and group coordination. Manchester Airport transfers frequently involve multiple pickups on the same trip — office colleagues heading to the same flight, or a family collected from two addresses. Add each stop at booking; the fare recalculates and remains fixed. For groups of 10+, book across multiple vehicles from the same dispatch so drivers travel in convoy and arrive together.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Manchester Airport taxi from Stockport?

Get an instant quote online for the exact price — the journey takes around 20 minutes via the A34 off-peak. Fares are fixed at booking based on your exact postcode and terminal, and estate or MPV vehicles carry a small premium for larger luggage loads.

Will my driver wait if my flight is delayed?

Yes. Every arrival booking includes 60 minutes of free waiting time from the moment your flight lands, and we track your inbound flight number automatically so the pickup slides with any delay. If your flight is diverted or cancelled, contact dispatch and we will rebook or refund without penalty.

How do I find my driver at Manchester Airport?

Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall at your terminal with a printed name sign showing your surname or booking reference. This applies at T2 and T3 (the airport now operates from two passenger terminals after Terminal 1 closed to passenger flights in 2024). You do not need to walk to a car park or call the driver, and the meet-and-greet is included in every fare at no extra charge.

Do I have to pay the Manchester Airport drop-off charge?

Manchester Airport applies a forecourt drop-off charge to any vehicle stopping at the terminal frontage. We pass this through at cost as a separate line on your fare rather than hiding it in the base price, so you always see exactly what you are paying for and why.

Can I book a return Manchester Airport taxi at the same time?

Yes. Return trips are booked as a single confirmation with both legs priced upfront. This is usually cheaper than booking two one-way trips separately, and it guarantees the return driver is scheduled — particularly useful for late-night returns or weekend travel when short-notice availability tightens.

Are child seats available for airport transfers?

Yes. Rear-facing infant carriers, forward-facing toddler seats and high-back boosters can be added to any booking. Please request them when you book, as they are not carried by default. A small handling fee applies per seat, and any vehicle class from saloon upwards can be fitted.

How early should I book a Manchester Airport taxi?

For departures we recommend at least 12 hours ahead to guarantee your preferred vehicle class, though same-day bookings are usually possible. For arrivals you can book any time before you fly, including from a stopover lounge, provided your inbound flight number is valid and can be tracked.

Do you offer wheelchair-accessible airport taxis?

Yes. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available on request, ideally with 12 to 24 hours notice as they represent a smaller share of the fleet. WAVs are ramp-loaded, fit a standard-size wheelchair with occupant, carry up to three additional passengers, and are priced the same as a comparable MPV.
