Birmingham Airport (BHX) transfers

Birmingham Airport handles more than 12 million passengers a year and sits roughly eight miles east of the city centre, just off the M42 at Junction 6. Journey times from Colmore Business District typically run 20–30 minutes off-peak, 15 minutes from Solihull town centre, and closer to 40–50 minutes from Wolverhampton or Sutton Coldfield during rush hour. For flights leaving before 7am or after 9pm we recommend adding a 15-minute buffer to allow for overnight M42 roadworks and security queue variations.

Meet-and-greet is our default arrivals service: your driver watches the flight tracker, waits through any delay at no extra charge, and meets you at the arrivals hall on the ground floor of the main terminal, near Costa. If you'd rather save five minutes on a short trip, choose kerbside pickup at booking and we'll collect you from the short-stay layby on Airport Way. For departures, we suggest a pickup two and a half hours before short-haul flights and three hours before long-haul, with an extra 30 minutes during peak summer school holidays when BHX security queues stretch.

New Street, Moor Street and Grand Central

Birmingham's three central stations sit within a short walk of each other, but every one has its own pickup rules and its own local traffic quirks. New Street is best reached via the taxi rank at Stephenson Street, or through the Grand Central drop-off on Navigation Street. Our drivers default to the Stephenson Street rank unless you specify otherwise in the booking notes. Moor Street uses a compact drop-off directly outside the ticket hall on Moor Street Queensway, and Snow Hill has a layby on Livery Street.

Grand Central above New Street is one of the busiest retail hubs in the city, and the pedestrianised streets around the Bullring can add five to ten minutes to any pickup during shopping hours or event days. Our drivers know the alternative approaches — via Smallbrook Queensway or Suffolk Street Queensway — that avoid the worst of the tram-line congestion on Corporation Street, and they'll message you on arrival if the standard route is blocked so you don't stand waiting on the wrong side.

NEC, Resorts World, Utilita Arena and Solihull

Anyone heading to a trade show at the NEC, a gig at the Utilita Arena, or a night out at Resorts World can be picked up from any Birmingham postcode with a fixed fare that stays the same whether the event traffic is light or gridlocked. The NEC campus sits on the same M42 corridor as the airport, so from the city centre you'll typically pay a similar band to a BHX transfer. On event nights we pre-position vehicles at Bickenhill and Marston Green to keep pickup times short, and we recommend booking your return before the show ends rather than joining the post-event rank.

Solihull covers B90 through B94 and includes Shirley, Dorridge, Knowle and Balsall Common. It's a popular commuter belt for pickups into the city and the airport, and our fleet works it seven days a week without any out-of-town surcharge on top of the fixed fare.

The Clean Air Zone and what it means for your fare

Birmingham's Clean Air Zone (CAZ) has been in force since June 2021 and covers everything inside the A4540 Middleway ring road — that's the whole of the city core including Digbeth, the Bullring, the Jewellery Quarter and Broad Street. Non-compliant private cars are charged £8 per day to drive inside the zone, but every CabsOn vehicle working within the CAZ meets Euro 6 (diesel) or Euro 4 (petrol) emissions standards. That means you won't see a CAZ surcharge added to your quoted fare, and we won't turn a job away because of the zone.

Older private-hire and hackney vehicles that don't meet the standard pay a daily zone charge themselves, and passengers on those services sometimes see that cost passed on. That won't happen with us — the price at booking is the price you pay, whether your trip crosses the ring road or stays inside it.

Neighbourhoods we cover

Birmingham's character sits in its neighbourhoods rather than its postcodes. Digbeth's warehouses and creative studios (B5), the Jewellery Quarter with its independent makers (B18), Edgbaston with the county cricket ground and university halls (B15/B16), leafy Moseley and Kings Heath (B13/B14), Harborne with its high street cafés (B17), Selly Oak beside the University of Birmingham (B29), Sutton Coldfield to the north (B72–B76), Erdington and Aston closer in — every one of these is a routine pickup for us. Journey times vary widely: five to ten minutes from Digbeth into the city core, twenty to thirty from Sutton Coldfield in rush hour, and around fifteen from Harborne on a clear afternoon.

Routes out of Birmingham

Manchester Airport is the most common inter-city transfer we run — around 90 miles up the M6, typically 90 to 120 minutes off-peak, and up to two and a half hours if the Thelwall Viaduct is queuing. Note that Manchester Airport now operates from T2 and T3 only; T1 closed in 2024 as part of the airport's £1.3bn transformation programme, so tell your driver which terminal you actually need on the day.

London journeys via the M40 take around two to two and a half hours to Heathrow, closer to three hours into central London on a weekday. Coventry is 30 to 45 minutes down the M6 or M42 depending on traffic, and East Midlands Airport sits about an hour north-east via the M42 and M1. Every one of these routes is available as a fixed-fare pre-booking with the return leg tracked to your flight if you book both together.
