Book Your Journey

Fixed-fare quotes — London to Gatwick Airport.

Booking a Gatwick Airport taxi should feel effortless — whether you're catching an early flight from the South Terminal or landing tired into the North after a long-haul. At CabsOn we run fixed-fare transfers to and from London Gatwick 24 hours a day, matched to your flight and priced up front so there's no meter anxiety on the way down the M23. Our drivers know the terminal short-stay approaches, the inter-terminal shuttle crossover, and the quiet cut-throughs that save minutes when the M25 backs up around Reigate.

Gatwick handles over 40 million passengers a year across two terminals, making it Britain's second-busiest airport by passenger volume. That scale means arrivals halls can be chaotic, and a driver who's actually there — name-sign in hand, at the correct terminal — is worth every penny compared with hunting a queue outside the coach station. We meet you inside the terminal, help with luggage, and roll the airport pick-up levy into the quoted price rather than tapping you for it on the forecourt.

Why customers pick CabsOn for Gatwick:

  • Fixed price agreed at booking — no surge, no meter surprises
  • Meet-and-greet at both North and South Terminal short-stay car parks
  • Live flight tracking, so pickup shifts with your ATA automatically
  • 60 minutes free waiting after landing (30 minutes on scheduled pickups)
  • Saloon, estate, executive, MPV and 8-seater options
  • Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or corporate account — no cash needed
  • 24/7 UK-based dispatch, WhatsApp and phone support
  • Airport fees, VAT and card processing included in every quote

Our Gatwick Airport taxi service

CabsOn operates a licensed, insured taxi and private hire service covering Gatwick from every direction — central London, the M25 corridor, the south coast, Surrey, Sussex and Kent, plus long-distance runs from the Midlands and the North. Every Gatwick booking is fixed-priced at the moment you confirm, using route data rather than a running meter. That matters at Gatwick because the M23/M25 interchange at Merstham and the climb up Reigate Hill can add 15 to 25 minutes at rush hour, and passengers on a metered fare end up paying for congestion they didn't cause. With a fixed quote, the price you see at booking is the price you pay whether the drive takes 55 minutes or 95.

Our controllers monitor Gatwick's arrival board directly, so if your flight from Larnaca slips 40 minutes en route we already know before you land — there's no need to text us from baggage reclaim. Every driver assigned to an airport job carries a printed name-board and has the terminal's short-stay tariff pre-loaded, so you won't be asked to reimburse the airport pick-up levy or drop-off fee on top of your quoted price. If you'd rather use your company's brand on the sign, or initials only for privacy, tell us at booking and we'll amend.

Fleet options

Choose the vehicle that suits the trip, not the salesman:

  • Saloon (up to 4 passengers, 2 large cases + 2 cabin) — Toyota Prius, Skoda Superb or VW Passat class. The most economical option for solo travellers, couples or a small family with modest luggage.
  • Estate (up to 4 passengers, 3 large cases + 2 cabin) — Mercedes E-Class Estate or Skoda Superb Estate. Sensible upgrade for a family holiday with hard cases and a pushchair.
  • Executive (up to 4 passengers, 2–3 large cases) — Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series or Audi A6. Leather interior, chilled water and tinted rear glass. Standard choice for corporate arrivals into South Terminal Premier lounge.
  • MPV / 6-seater (up to 6 passengers, 4–5 large cases) — Ford Galaxy, VW Sharan or Mercedes V-Class. Family group or small business team.
  • 8-seater minibus (up to 8 passengers, 6–8 large cases) — Mercedes Vito Tourer or Ford Tourneo. Proper luggage room in the boot, not stacked on knees.
  • Chauffeur / VIP — Mercedes S-Class, Range Rover LWB or BMW 7 Series with suited driver. Wi-Fi in the car and a wait-and-return option for iterative meetings around the airport.

Both terminals — North and South

Gatwick is unusual in the UK for having two properly separated terminals linked by an inter-terminal shuttle transit. If you're being collected, tell us which terminal your flight lands at when booking — we'll be waiting at that terminal's short-stay car park, not the wrong side of the shuttle. It sounds obvious, but a surprising number of arrivals-hall meetups go wrong for exactly this reason.

Gatwick's North and South Terminals both serve a mix of long-haul and short-haul carriers. On the day of your booking we track the flight number you provide and route to the correct terminal — meet-and-greet drivers wait in that terminal's short-stay car park, roughly a three-minute walk from Arrivals across the pedestrian bridge. We'll message you the driver's exact bay number and car registration as soon as you're wheels-down. If you've come off a long-haul with a full trolley of cases, the driver will meet you at the terminal exit doors rather than making you push the trolley up the ramp.

Drop-off at both terminals — We use the forecourt drop-off; the airport access fee is bundled into your quote, never added on the day. For heavy luggage or reduced-mobility travellers we can drop at the terminal doors directly rather than the outer forecourt where possible.

Typical journey times to Gatwick, off-peak:

  • Central London (Zone 1) — around 60 to 75 minutes, roughly 28 miles via M23
  • Croydon or Purley — 35 to 45 minutes
  • Brighton — 40 to 50 minutes via A23
  • Heathrow Airport (T2/T3/T5) — 60 to 75 minutes via M25 clockwise
  • Stansted Airport — 90 to 105 minutes via M25
  • Reading — 75 to 95 minutes via M25
  • Portsmouth or Southampton — 90 to 120 minutes via A3/M23
  • Birmingham — approximately 2 hours 30 minutes via M40/M25

Rush hour adds 20 to 40 minutes on the M25 and around the Merstham interchange. We build that buffer into the pickup time we suggest — you'll rarely be asked to leave earlier than needed, but we'll flag it if a National Highways closure or a Crystal Palace match kick-off warrants leaving 15 minutes sooner.

Pricing

Every quote is fixed at the point of booking and includes the Gatwick pickup or drop-off fee, meet-and-greet inside the terminal, up to 60 minutes free waiting for arrivals (30 minutes for scheduled outbound pickups), and VAT. Card processing is free. There are no midnight surcharges, bank-holiday surcharges or weather surcharges.

Approximate fare ranges (one-way, off-peak):

  • Central London (W1, WC1, EC1) to Gatwick — saloon typically £70 to £90; executive £110 to £140
  • Croydon or Sutton to Gatwick — saloon typically £35 to £50
  • Brighton to Gatwick — saloon typically £55 to £75
  • Heathrow to Gatwick (inter-airport) — saloon typically £85 to £110
  • Reading to Gatwick — saloon typically £110 to £140
  • Portsmouth or Southampton to Gatwick — saloon typically £120 to £160
  • Birmingham to Gatwick — saloon typically £280 to £340

MPV and 8-seater premiums are typically 25 to 40 percent over saloon; executive around 40 to 55 percent over saloon. Late-night runs between 23:00 and 06:00 may attract a modest out-of-hours uplift on longer routes — clearly shown before you confirm, never added afterwards. Return bookings can be combined into a single quote at booking, which typically works out cheaper than two separate one-ways.

Booking process

Three ways to book, all giving the same fixed-fare quote:

  1. Online at cabson.uk — enter pickup, drop-off Gatwick + terminal, date and time. Choose vehicle class, pay by card or corporate account, get instant confirmation by email and SMS. Takes about 60 seconds.
  2. CabsOn app (iOS and Android) — same booking flow with live driver tracking after allocation, plus saved cards, saved addresses and one-tap re-book. Push notification when the driver is approaching and again when parked at the terminal.
  3. Phone or WhatsApp — talk to a UK-based controller if you'd prefer, especially for complex multi-stop, group travel, or wedding-day airport transfers where timings matter to the minute.

For arrivals, please provide the flight number when booking. We watch its actual arrival time rather than the scheduled one — so if you're delayed leaving Reykjavik, we're already at your new time. If your flight is diverted to Stansted or Bournemouth we'll re-quote to the actual arrival airport at the same per-mile rate rather than charging you for a full second journey.

Luggage allowance

Saloons take two large suitcases (up to roughly 75 litres each) plus two cabin cases in the boot; slightly less if you're four adults needing rear-seat leg space for a longer Gatwick run. Estates comfortably take three large cases plus two cabin. MPVs handle four to five hard cases with room for pushchairs, and the 8-seater Vito swallows six to eight cases without stacking on laps. If you're travelling with skis, golf clubs, a cello, a cot bed or a bicycle in a hard box, please flag it at booking so we allocate the right vehicle — pushing a snowboard into a Prius boot at 05:00 on the South Terminal forecourt is not the start to a ski trip you want.

Child seats and boosters

Rear-facing baby seats (Group 0+), forward-facing toddler seats (Group 1) and high-back boosters (Group 2/3) are all available on request at no extra charge, subject to availability. Please book at least four hours in advance for a Gatwick arrival so the seat is fitted before the driver leaves for the airport — a driver rooting through the boot for a booster while you're standing on the forecourt with a tired child at midnight helps nobody.

Payment methods

We accept all major debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), plus Apple Pay and Google Pay through the app or website. Cash is accepted in the car if you prefer but is never required. Corporate accounts are settled monthly on itemised invoice with a full trip listing — useful for finance teams reconciling business travel across a whole quarter. Card processing fees are absorbed by us, never added at the terminal.

Cancellation and changes

Cancellations more than 4 hours before pickup are free. Cancellations 2 to 4 hours before pickup incur a small allocation fee, typically equal to the minimum fare. Cancellations inside 2 hours or after driver dispatch are chargeable up to the full fare, because the driver has usually already left for the pickup. Time changes and vehicle upgrades are always free where availability allows.

Wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAV)

WAV bookings are available on request, typically with 24 hours notice so the correct vehicle is allocated. Our accessible vehicles take one wheelchair passenger plus up to three ambulant companions with luggage, using a rear-loading ramp and four-point restraint system. Please indicate wheelchair dimensions and any oxygen or medical equipment when booking so the driver arrives properly prepared.

Meet-and-greet name-signs

By default the driver holds a printed sign showing your surname. If you'd prefer a company name, initials only, or a specific spelling — for privacy, or for guests being collected on your behalf — tell us at booking and we'll amend. Corporate meet-and-greets can carry your company logo on the board for a small print fee. The driver will also send a WhatsApp when parked so you can find them without hunting the arrivals hall.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Gatwick Airport taxi from central London?

A saloon from Zone 1 central London to Gatwick typically costs 70 to 90 pounds fixed price, off-peak. Executive class runs 110 to 140 pounds, and an 8-seater minibus around 120 to 150 pounds. All quotes include the airport pick-up or drop-off fee, meet-and-greet, VAT and card processing, so the price you're quoted is the price you pay.

Do you cover both North and South Terminals at Gatwick?

Yes. We meet passengers in the short-stay car parks at both North Terminal and South Terminal, roughly a three-minute walk from Arrivals in each case. Just tell us which terminal your flight lands at when booking and we'll be waiting on the correct side, so you don't need to cross the inter-terminal shuttle with your luggage.

How long does the drive from London to Gatwick take?

Off-peak, central London to Gatwick is around 60 to 75 minutes for the 28-mile drive down the M23. Rush hour or Friday evenings can add 20 to 40 minutes around the M25 Merstham interchange. We build that buffer into your suggested pickup time so you arrive at the terminal with reasonable margin for check-in.

What happens if my flight into Gatwick is delayed?

We track your flight's actual arrival time, so any delay is handled automatically and the driver moves to the new pickup time without you needing to call. Once you've landed, you get up to 60 minutes of free waiting for baggage reclaim, customs and getting through Arrivals. Extended waits beyond that are charged in modest increments.

Can you fit a child seat for a Gatwick pickup?

Yes. Rear-facing baby seats, forward-facing toddler seats and high-back booster seats are all available at no extra charge, subject to availability. Please book at least four hours in advance for an arrivals pickup so the seat is fitted before the driver leaves for the airport, especially for late-night or early-morning flights.

What payment methods do you accept for Gatwick taxis?

All major credit and debit cards including American Express, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay through the app or website. Cash is accepted in the car if preferred. Corporate accounts are billed monthly on itemised invoice, which suits finance teams reconciling business travel. Card processing fees are never passed on at the terminal.

Do you have wheelchair-accessible taxis for Gatwick transfers?

Yes, wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available on request. We ask for around 24 hours notice so the correct vehicle is allocated to your booking. Our WAVs take one wheelchair passenger plus up to three ambulant companions with luggage, using a rear-loading ramp and four-point restraint system for safety on the M23.

What's your cancellation policy for Gatwick bookings?

Cancellations more than 4 hours before pickup are free of charge. Between 2 and 4 hours before pickup a small allocation fee applies. Inside 2 hours or after driver dispatch, the booking is chargeable up to the full fare because the driver has usually already left for the airport. Time changes are always free where availability allows.
